McCarran Village
Another mixed-use development, McCarran Village, is under construction. This
project is directly west of the
East Village
project on Tropicana Road. The plans call for lots of residence over
retail, hi-rise condos, a 30 story hotel, and plenty of restaurants and
shops. Since it abuts East Village, I'm hoping they choose a true urban
solution and merge the projects, allowing simple walk-over routes as
opposed to having to walk to Tropicana Road in order to visit the
neighboring property (pseudo urban). |

Trop 42 (formerly Shoma 38) Trop 42 is a proposed mixed-use project for the 42-acre plot east of the MGM Grand on Tropicana Blvd., directly across from the Executive Aviation Terminal. Six high rises encircle the project which will have a resort with a casino, condos, condo-hotel, retail and an entertainment complex. The developers have expanded the original 38-acre plan by adding the four-acre lot to the west of the 38 acres they owned. No word yet on a groundbreaking date. This project is proposed |

Ultimate Sports Resort NEWS 1/27/06 The (now titled) Ultimate Sports Resort is planning on a North Las Vegas location near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This one is unique and not just a dream project. While the news is not yet official, the huge $4-billion City of Sports will be a destination property, tapping a new customer base. I'm not sure that the North Las Vegas location (eight miles from the strip) is a good idea. At the heart of the complex will be a hotel and casino, featuring 5,500 rooms and suites, roughly 1,000 athlete dorms and day-use rooms, and 150,000 square feet of premium gaming split in to smoking and non-smoking areas. Integrated throughout the complex will be: six sports arenas (the largest of which will seat 26,000), numerous sports training facilities, a sports activity center where guests and visitors can watch and play sports (24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year). The plan also calls for: nightlife activities in the entertainment venues, a wide selection of fun non-sports activities, a nearly one million square foot convention center-meeting space, luxury condominiums, retail space including a unique sports equipment exhibition, first-rate medical services, a luxurious spa and salon, a food and beverage program that includes gourmet restaurants and healthy buffets, and many more unique activities and services.
The
entire resort will be serviced by a multi-use parking structure that will
accommodate 23,000 vehicles and has a driving range on top. |
