In a follow-up of the story (below), all issues with the
space-frame have been resolved. According to Breslin
Builders, the issue was not as bad as they thought and
it was easily remedied.
The problem was - The way they were lifting the
sections was putting too much stress on the welds. They
reconfigured their lifting method and the remaining
sections went up without issues.

Here are
some photos of the Space-Frame at Newport Lofts. The
whole frame was about 85% complete - then on 3-9-07 at
8:15 a.m., something went wrong. Welds started to break
and the whole building had to be evacuated. The frame
(secured with guy cables to the crane) was left hanging
over night and into Saturday. The city wants it down
because the welds are failing and nobody wants to touch
it?
